Soothing Bellies and Supporting Mamas

There’s nothing quite like the sound of your baby crying inconsolably, especially when you’ve done everything you know to do. Colic is one of those heart-wrenching phases that leaves both baby and mama frazzled and exhausted. But here’s the truth: there are real, gentle solutions that can bring comfort and relief to your little one (and you).

Colic is often defined as frequent, prolonged, and intense crying in a healthy infant. It usually starts around 2 to 3 weeks of age and can last until 3 or 4 months. The exact cause? Not always clear. But common culprits include gas, digestive immaturity, overstimulation, and tension held in the body after birth.

This is where the power of homeopathy shines.

Here are a few top remedies to keep on hand for colic:

Give one dose every 15 to 30 minutes during a flare. If improvement is seen, pause and only repeat as needed. For babies, you can let the pellet dissolve in a small bit of water and give a teaspoon or a few drops by mouth.

Chamomilla 30c or 200c

For babies with colic who are extremely irritable, hypersensitive to pain, and seem to scream with unbearable intensity. They may clench their fists, arch their back, and reject everything, breast, bottle, or comfort, yet only temporary calm comes from being carried, bounced, or rocked. Their tummy often appears swollen or distended, sometimes with greenish stools, and one cheek may flush hot while the other stays pale. This is the classic “nothing satisfies but everything hurts” remedy.

Nux Vomica 30c or 200c

Useful for babies who are gassy, straining, and uncomfortable, especially after feedings. They may be better in the morning and worse at night. These babies might seem tense, over-sensitive, and frustrated.

Lycopodium 30c or 200c

Great when bloating and gurgling are a big part of the picture. Baby may have a distended belly and pass gas frequently. Often worse from 4 to 8 p.m., with issues digesting milk or formula.

Colocynthis 200c

A top remedy for babies who double up in pain, pulling their knees to their chest in discomfort. These little ones often find relief with tummy pressure, like gentle belly rubs or being held belly-down across your arm. Think intense cramps, sudden outbursts of crying, and gas that just won’t move. This one brings powerful relief when tension and tightness are the theme.

While homeopathy can be powerful on its own, adding body-based care like craniosacral therapy, cranial fascial therapy, and chiropractic adjustments can be very beneficial.  They are gentle hands-on modalities that help release tension, unwind birth stress, improve digestion, support the nervous system and allow the body to settle more deeply into rest and healing.

Remember, you’re not failing if your baby is crying. Colic is hard. It tugs at every fiber of our mama hearts. But you don’t have to feel powerless. Homeopathy gives you tools. Gentle. Effective. Safe. Rooted in results.

You’ve got this, Mama. And Living Rooted is here to support you every step of the way.
