Mosquitoes Love Me. Here’s How I Win Every Time

I must have that five-star mosquito blood because if there’s one bug within a zip code, it’s headed straight for me.

I’ve tried all the things: citronella, long sleeves, prayers. But when the inevitable bites appear, homeopathy is what saves the day (and my sanity)…

Why Scratch When You Can Soothe?

Let’s get straight to the good stuff. You don’t have time to itch your way through summer. Here are the only two remedies I keep on hand when the bugs get bold:

Ledum Palustre: The Itch Whisperer

If I could put one remedy in my pocket for summer evenings on the porch, this is it.

Here’s the scene:
You come inside after playing outside with the kids. You realize you’ve been attacked—those angry, itchy bumps are rising fast. You scratch (you know you shouldn’t), and it just gets worse. The skin is red and raised but feels better when you apply something cool.

Enter Ledum.
I grab a 30C or 200C and dose every 15 minutes until the itching calms down. Sometimes one dose is magic. Sometimes it takes two or three. But either way, relief comes fast.

Apis Mellifica: When the Reaction Gets Real

Ever had a mosquito bite that looks like it came from a bee with a vendetta?

If the bite is big, red, hot, and swollen like a tiny balloon and the person wants cold on it ASAP, Apis is the remedy.

This one is perfect for those times when your kid gets one bite and suddenly looks like they need a cold compress and a nap. It’s gentle, effective, and amazing at calming scary-looking reactions.

How I Use Them

Both Ledum and Apis come in handy 30C or 200C potencies. I usually dose every 15 to 30 minutes during intense itching or swelling, then space out as things improve. When in doubt, I watch the symptoms: Ledum loves coolness and pale skin. Apis is all about red, puffy, burning bites.

Bonus Trick:
I’ll sometimes dissolve a few pellets in water and use that to dab directly onto bites. Dual-action support equals happy skin.
